For years hobbyists have been intrigued by the possibility of using a 'beam of light' to control other devices! The abundance of inexpensive laser elements that have now become available has further pushed the demand for useful products and experimental kits. The LTS1 Laser Trip Sensor was developed with the intention of providing a fun and educational kit that can actually be used constructively upon completion. The kit comes with all you'll need to set up your own laser fence: the laser element (small keychain type high power laser pointer!), the PVC enclosure, and the laser detector with built in Audible and Visible Alert indicators. The LTS1 can be used in a number of different ways. The break-away circuit board gives the user the flexibility of remotely mounting the detector circuit (optionally powered with a standard 9 Volt battery) over 500 yards away without the need for mirrors. If mirrors are used, arrangements in a doorway or as a perimeter fence can almost guarantee detection of any unwanted guests. For added functionality, the relay output (5 Amp rating) can be used to drive other devices such as an event counter, lights, or even camera modules! Operates from 9 - 18 VDC @ 90 to 100 mA. Order our AC125 for a plug in 12VDC power supply. Detector portion can use a standard 9V battery with long life. Board dimensions: 4" L x 1" W (max component height: 5/8"). The hard wired vehicle sensor lets you know any time a vehicle enters or leaves the driveway. The probe of the vehicle sensor detects metal objects, such as moving cars, in a ten to twelve foot radius of the sensor. The vehicle sensor probe should be buried parallel to or under the driveway. Then the direct burial wire is run back to the control box that is located in the house. The probe will detect vehicles moving by and send a signal through the line to the control box, which will sound a whistle. The probe and wire can easily be buried in turf with a shovel or a lawn edger. If the probe is to be buried in the middle of the drive, it is best to have the probe and wire in a conduit to protect it from any damage caused by heavy vehicles. If there are gophers, moles, etc., in the area, it would be best to have the entire length of wire in a conduit. The control box simply plugs into a 110-volt outlet, and has an on/off switch on the top of the box. There is a set of contacts to connect the two wires from the probe, as well as a set of 12-volt DC (500mA max) contacts. The voltage output can be used to operate sirens, bells, or a light timer. Everything is color coded and labeled for easy reference. The whistle and the voltage output are adjustable for 2, 4 or 8 seconds.
